STAY WELL - STAY SAFE - STAY SCOUTING!
We NEED Adult Leaders and Volunteers to help us keep delivering adventures and changing lives for the better in our community.
Volunteering at the 8th Wimbledon Scout Group isn’t just about changing young people’s lives. It’s about doing something that’s #GoodForYou too. Good for your health and happiness, good for developing skills, and good for making friends. Come and join in the fun with us.
Scouting is open to everyone: people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and experiences are welcome. You don't have to have a faith or belief as we welcome everyone. For many Adult roles there is a DBS check required and most roles have relevant training provided, free of charge to you as a volunteer. You will also find that some elements of volunteering may be used by you for evidence and assessment for Youth Work related NVQs.
We are based at St. Andrew's Church Hall, Herbert Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 3SH.
We're recruiting for these vital roles:
Section Assistant Leaders - with either Beavers, Cubs or Scouts
Make a bird box; transform a future.
Would you like the chance to canoe, climb, run games and make bird boxes while improving your CV? As a voluntary Section Assistant in the 8th Wimbledon Scout Group you will do all of this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones.
We now need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will be involved in planning and delivering a safe and exciting programme for young people in one of our Sections (Beavers aged 6-8yrs, Cubs aged 8-10.5yrs and Scouts aged 10.5-14yrs), helping them achieve badges and awards and enjoy adventurous activities and exciting experiences.
Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need. All of us are volunteers and we look after each other here. Full training provided.

Are you a money-maker extraordinaire?
Can you help fund a future?
Are you fizzing with fundraising ideas? Are you equally at home organising a cake sale as a sponsored Digital Detox? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us.
The 8th Wimbledon Scout Group now needs a voluntary Group Fundraising Chair to help support our activities and improve our facilities. Raising extra funds means we can provide a wider range of exciting opportunities to our young people.

Are young people kept safe in Scouting?
We take Safeguarding and Safety very seriously (more info). All volunteers are DBS checked, and our activities and our adventurous activities must fulfill specific health, safety and operational criteria laid down by The Scout Association UK in its Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). All of our Adult Leaders are required to regularly undertake First Aid and Safeguarding Training. We also work to comply with GDPR Legislation.
