First and most important: Thank you!

Without the help of parents / guardians, we wouldn't have a Scout group! THANK YOU to all of 8th Wimbledon's parents for all of your help and support in running the group. Without your support, none of the activities we're able to run with our young members could exist.

Interested in your son or daughter joining the group?

See our New Members page to find out how to sign up your son or daughter for Scouts, Cubs or Beavers at the 8th Wimbledon.

Paying subs online

As a parent / guardian of a child in the Group, we ask you to pay a Membership Subscription each term. This is £25 for Beaver Scouts and £30 for Cub Scouts and Scouts: this money goes toward providing resources for use week in week out, including: badges, insurance, rent for our meeting hall, membership of the UK Scout Association, sports equipment, camping equipment, and part of the cost of our camps.

All of our leaders and committee members are 100% volunteers and receive no payment. We are a registered charity.

Gift aid: If you are a UK taxpayer and you earn more than the amount of your donation, we can claim back money from the government on your donation, so please tick the 'gift aid' box below.

Use of photos: Sometimes photos and video images of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers taking part in activities are submitted to the local newspapers, the Group, District or County newsletters and website or put on display. If you have any objections please indicate that you are NOT willing for your child's image to be used in this way by choosing 'No' below.

Buying Uniform

You can buy uniform:

You don't need to get all of the stuff listed for each of the sections! The parts you need are:

(The group will provide a scarf).

Buying outdoor clothes and kit

A decent waterproof jacket is essential for both Scouts and Cubs. Scouts really need to have a good pair of walking boots as well.

Some boot shops will do boot exchanges on used kids walking boots (because they grow out of them so quickly).

By the way, for jackets 'showerproof' really means 'not waterproof'. Much better to buy the waterproof one. Waterproof trousers are also a good idea for the winter.

See also: 'Kit list for a Scout day hike' on the Scouts page.

PLUS: See our BOOT EXCHANGE for second-hand walking boots

Where to buy outdoor kit:

- Outdoors (aka The Scout Shop)
- Millets (on Wimbledon Broardway)
- Blacks (also on Wimbledon Broadway)
- Cotswold Outdoor (there's one in Kingston)
- Gear-zone.co.uk. Gear-zone is Internet-only and has some cheap deals, but it's always a good idea to try things on first in Millets or Blacks.
- Decathlon is said to be good value (e.g. £6 for children's walking boots), but our nearest ones are at Bluewater / Surrey Quays.

These shops are for general outdoor kit, they don't sell Beaver / Cub / Scout uniforms. See 'buying uniform' above, for where to buy uniform.
